About Mishmak

Hi, my name is Michelle. I was born and raised in Glasgow and came to London to attend Mountview Theatre School after finishing school.

In 2010 I opened Mishmak Youth Theatre, I wanted to create an inclusive, non competitive environment in which creativity would be nurtured and bravery in performance encouraged.

More than 15 years on, nothing makes me happier than when former Mishmak members who are now grown ups come back to help out at shows, keep in touch to let me know what they are doing now and share memories of their time at Mishmak.

I am so proud of what we have built at Mishmak, it really is a family and feels safe. A family in the literal sense too as my husband often teaches when he isn’t performing and my two older children are young professional actors.

A woman with long brown hair and blue eyes wearing a dark blue sports jacket and matching shorts, standing against a plain light gray background.

Our children are inheriting a world full of challenges and it is going to take a wealth of creativity and bravery to meet those difficulties.

Creativity cannot be automated.

The boy in the middle has short hair, is wearing a cap and a jacket, and looks concerned. The girl on the right, with curly hair, is turned away from the camera and appears to be speaking to the boy.
